Many people are spending a lot more time cooking at home these days, and SHOP PENN is here to help you shake up dinner time with favorite home recipes straight from the chefs of some of your go-to SHOP PENN restaurants.

There is nothing better on a hot summer day than a cool, sweet treat. HipCityVeg knows this all too well, so in the latest edition of the SHOP PENN Recipe Roundup they are sharing with everyone the trick to making their Famous Banana Whip right in your own kitchen!

According to HipCityVeg Founder and CEO Nicole Marquis…

Imagine eating ice cream that’s made entirely from frozen bananas! Whether you’re looking for a quick afternoon snack, a morning booster, or a refreshing dessert, HipCityVeg’s Banana Whip satisfies your summer cravings. When you can’t get to the restaurant, you can make your favorite HipCityVeg frozen treat at home.

The beauty of the Banana Whip is how naturally flavorful and cooling it is on its own. But we also love to get creative by dressing it up with fun toppings, from dairy-free chocolate chips, to fresh fruit, to crumbled vegan cookies, to pretzels, to granola, or shredded coconut. The Banana Whip in our stores is simply frozen bananas, whipped in our magic machine (which is essentially a high-powered juicer). But you can make your favorite summer treat at home in a blender. All you need for the homemade version is two simple ingredients, bananas and plant-based milk.

HipCityVeg’s Famous Banana Whip
(Serves 1)

Ingredients:
2 bananas
⅛ cup plant-based milk (oat, soy, coconut, almond, or your favorite)

Prep:

1)Prepare the bananas by peeling and slicing them into ¼ or ½ inch pieces. Place them in a bag in the freezer overnight.

Instructions:

1) Blend frozen banana slices with a splash of plant-based milk to create an ice cream-like consistency.
2) Keep pulsing the blender on low until the bananas are smooth. Scoop the Banana Whip into a bowl and add toppings or enjoy on its own!

Tips:
For dessert, top the Banana Whip with vegan chocolate chips and chocolate syrup. For extra flavor, add one or two drops of vanilla extract, agave, maple syrup, or 1 Tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder or peanut butter to the ingredients in the blender. You can even add your favorite protein powder for more staying power, especially if you want to enjoy your banana whip as a meal!

For an extra-energizing version, add berries, shredded coconut, oats, granola, peanuts, or almonds to create the perfect healthy snack or meal that is sweet, creamy, and refreshing.

Enjoy your homemade banana whip “ice cream” anytime, for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert.  And you can always order the original Banana Whip from your nearest HipCityVeg, here
