In the winter…
With basketball season in full swing, you’ll want to catch a game at The Palestra, home of Penn’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams—and one of the most storied gymnasiums in the history of collegiate athletics. Penn Men’s Wrestling also calls the Palestra home in colder months, and Women’s Volleyball plays there in the spring.
If you’d rather watch your games on the big screen, Cavanaugh's Restaurant at 119 South 39th Street is a great place to cheer on your favorite teams with friends. With food and drink specials all day, everyday, Cavanaugh’s has been serving the Penn community for more than 80 years.
In the spring...
The weather is getting warmer and the days are starting to feel a little longer. That must mean it’s time to take me out to the ball game—it’s baseball season! Get outside, enjoy a picnic lunch, and grab a seat in the stands to watch the Men’s Baseball team hit it out of the park at Meiklejohn Stadium, just southeast of campus at 3331 River Fields Drive. Penn’s Women’s Softball team plays nearby at Penn Park, the same place where you might catch the Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse teams practicing before a big game at Franklin Field. Spring is a busy time for Penn Athletics, and there is always something happening at Penn Park!

In the fall…
Fall is a sports fan’s paradise. With Penn football, soccer, and field hockey kicking off in the fall, there is no shortage of game-watching activities. We recommend taking in a football game at Franklin Field, where Quaker fans are known to throw toast on the field between the third and fourth quarter of every home football game. Called the “Toast Toss,” it’s been a tradition for decades.
